Samsung AC Error Codes: Full List and Fixes

Samsung AC Error Codes: What Each Code Means and How to Fix It

Samsung air conditioners display error codes on the indoor unit display when something goes wrong. Most codes point to a problem you can diagnose at home before calling a technician. This guide covers every common Samsung AC error code with the cause and the fix to try first.

Samsung AC Error Code Table

Code Meaning Fix
E1 Indoor unit PCB fault Power cycle unit; if fault persists, PCB replacement needed
E4 High-pressure protection Clean condenser coil; check for refrigerant overcharge
E5 Low-pressure / refrigerant leak Check for ice on pipes; call technician for gas top-up
E6 Communication error (indoor–outdoor) Check wiring between units; power cycle both units
C4 Indoor pipe temperature sensor fault Check sensor connection; replace sensor if faulty
C5 Outdoor pipe temperature sensor fault Inspect outdoor unit sensor; replace if reading incorrectly
F1 Indoor room temperature sensor fault Clean sensor; check connector; replace sensor if needed
F2 Indoor coil temperature sensor fault Check sensor connector on indoor PCB; replace sensor
F3 Outdoor coil temperature sensor fault Inspect outdoor unit; replace outdoor sensor
P1 Outdoor unit voltage protection Check AC power supply voltage; use a stabiliser
P3 Outdoor current protection Check electrical connections; may indicate compressor issue
H6 DC motor fault (indoor fan) Check fan blade for obstruction; replace fan motor if needed

Top Samsung AC Error Codes Explained in Detail

E6 — Communication Error

The E6 error is one of the most common Samsung AC codes. It means the indoor and outdoor units cannot communicate. The most frequent cause is a loose or damaged signal wire between the two units. Power off the AC at the breaker for 30 seconds, then restart. If the error returns, a technician needs to check the inter-unit wiring.

E4 — High Pressure Protection

E4 triggers when the refrigerant pressure on the high side exceeds a safe limit. This often happens when the condenser coil (outdoor unit) is clogged with dust or debris, blocking heat dissipation. Turn off the AC and clean the outdoor unit fins with a soft brush or water hose. If the coil is clean, there may be a refrigerant overcharge.

E5 — Low Pressure / Refrigerant Issue

E5 usually means refrigerant is low, often due to a slow leak. Check the indoor unit’s copper pipes for ice formation — a tell-tale sign of low gas. Do not run the AC in this state. A certified technician must locate the leak, repair it, and recharge the refrigerant.

C4 / C5 — Temperature Sensor Faults

Sensor errors are usually caused by a loose connector at the PCB or a physically damaged sensor. Turn off the AC, remove the indoor panel, and check whether the sensor connector is firmly seated. If the connector is fine but the error persists, the sensor needs replacement — an inexpensive repair.

How to Reset a Samsung AC After an Error

  1. Switch off the AC using the remote.
  2. Turn off the circuit breaker supplying the AC.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Switch the breaker back on and restart the AC.
  5. If the error code reappears immediately, the underlying fault has not cleared and needs a technician.

When to Call a Technician

  • Error reappears within minutes of a reset.
  • You suspect a refrigerant leak (ice on pipes, poor cooling).
  • E1 or any PCB-related error code shows.
  • P3 current protection error — compressor may be failing.
