Haier refrigerators display alphanumeric error codes when a component fails or a sensor reads out of range. Knowing what each code means helps you decide whether a quick reset or a service call is needed. Here is a complete list of Haier refrigerator error codes with causes and fixes.
Haier Refrigerator Error Code Table
| Code | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| E0 | EEPROM (memory chip) error | Unplug 10 min; call Haier service if recurring |
| E1 | Fridge compartment sensor error | Reset; replace fridge sensor |
| E2 | Freezer sensor error | Defrost manually; replace freezer sensor |
| E3 | Ambient temperature sensor error | Reset; replace ambient sensor |
| E4 | Defrost sensor / heater fault | Manual defrost; replace defrost heater or sensor |
| E5 | Evaporator fan fault | Defrost; check fan for blockage |
| E6 | Communication error (main board) | Unplug 10 min; call Haier service |
| E7 | Ice maker sensor fault | Reset ice maker; replace sensor |
| E8 | Condenser fan fault | Clean condenser coils; check fan motor |
| F1 | High temperature alarm (fridge) | Check door seals and load; reset |
Most Common Haier Error Codes Explained
E1 — Fridge Compartment Sensor Error
The E1 code means the fridge temperature sensor is not providing a valid reading to the control board. This causes uneven cooling — sections of the fridge may be too cold or too warm.
Fix: Unplug the fridge for 5 minutes and restart. If E1 returns, the sensor (₹300–₹700) needs replacement. Haier service can complete this in one visit.
E2 — Freezer Sensor Error
E2 typically appears after heavy frost build-up has damaged the freezer sensor’s wiring. The control board cannot tell how cold the freezer is, so it may under-cool or over-cool.
Fix: Manually defrost the unit completely (unplug, doors open, 24 hours). After defrost, if the code clears, the sensor was affected by ice compression. If it recurs, replace the sensor.
E4 — Defrost Heater or Sensor Fault
E4 indicates the defrost circuit has failed — either the heater element is broken or the sensor is not reading correctly. Without defrost, ice coats the evaporator coils and the fridge stops cooling within days.
Fix: Manual defrost first. Then call a Haier technician to test and replace the defrost heater (₹800–₹1,500) or sensor.
E0 — EEPROM Memory Error
The EEPROM stores the fridge’s operational settings. An E0 error means the memory chip has a fault — this is usually a board-level issue. A 10-minute power reset clears transient E0 errors. Recurring E0 requires board replacement.
E6 — Communication Error
E6 means the main control board and display panel cannot communicate. This can be caused by a loose connector or a board fault. After a 10-minute reset, if the error persists, call Haier service.
When to Call Haier Service
- E0 or E6 codes that do not clear with power reset
- Fridge not cooling alongside any error code
- Error code returns within 48 hours of manual defrost
- Compressor is silent when it should be running
