Lloyd washing machines (part of the Havells family in India) show an error code on the display when something stops a cycle from completing. Most codes point to simple, fixable problems — a blocked drain, an unbalanced load, or a door that has not latched. This guide lists common Lloyd washing machine error codes, explains what each means, and gives the at-home fix to try first.
Lloyd Washing Machine Error Code List
Codes can differ between Lloyd’s top-load and front-load models. Where your exact code is not listed, match it to the general fault category below — most displays use an “E” followed by a number, or letters such as “Ub” for an unbalanced load.
| Code | Meaning | Fix to Try |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | Water inlet problem / not filling | Open the tap fully, straighten the inlet hose and clean the inlet mesh filter. |
| E2 | Door or lid not closed properly | Re-close firmly until it clicks; check the seal is clear. |
| E3 | Drainage fault — not draining | Clean the pump filter and check the drain hose for kinks or blockages. |
| E4 | Water overflow / level too high | Reduce detergent; power off and check for a stuck water valve. |
| E5 | Heating or temperature sensor fault | Power-cycle the machine; if it returns, call a technician. |
| E6 / Ub | Unbalanced load during spin | Spread the laundry evenly around the drum and restart the spin. |
| E7 | Motor or drive fault | Reduce the load and restart; persistent E7 needs a service visit. |
| E8 | Water leak or sensor fault | Switch off, check under the machine and inspect hose connections. |
The Most Common Lloyd Codes Explained
E1 — No Water Filling
E1 means the machine started but did not detect enough incoming water. The usual causes are a tap that is only partly open, a kinked inlet hose, or a clogged mesh filter at the hose connection. Turn off the tap, unscrew the hose, rinse the filter and refit it.
E3 — Will Not Drain
E3 means water cannot leave the drum, nearly always due to a blocked pump filter or a kinked drain hose. Regular filter cleaning also keeps odours away — see our guide on how to clean the washing machine drum and filter.
E6 / Ub — Unbalanced Load
This shows when the drum cannot balance the laundry for spinning, often because a single heavy item is being washed alone. Spread the load evenly and restart.
When to Reset and When to Call a Technician
Many codes clear after a power reset once the cause is fixed. Switch off, unplug for a couple of minutes, then restart. Codes pointing to the motor, heater or control board (E5, E7) usually need a qualified technician — worth arranging while the machine is under warranty. If faults keep recurring on an older machine, a replacement may be more economical.
