This guide explains how to use a Lloyd washing machine from first switch-on to your cleanest wash.
First-Time Setup
Stand the machine on a level, solid floor near a tap and drain. On front-loaders, remove the transit bolts at the back before the first wash to prevent heavy vibration. Connect the inlet hose to the tap, fit the drain hose securely, and plug into an earthed socket. Run one empty hot cycle to flush the drum before washing clothes.
Selecting a Wash Programme
Use the dial or programme buttons to choose the right cycle:
- Cotton — everyday clothes, bedsheets and towels.
- Quick Wash — a fast cycle for lightly soiled items.
- Synthetics — shirts and mixed fabrics.
- Delicate / Woollens — gentle, low-spin washing for fragile fabrics.
- Heavy / Soak — for heavily soiled loads.
- Spin Only — to re-spin a wet load.
Spin Speed and Temperature
Pick a higher spin (1000–1200 rpm) for cottons so they dry faster, and a lower spin for delicates to limit creasing. For temperature, 30°C suits everyday loads, 40°C handles normal soil, and 60°C is best for whites, towels and heavily soiled items. Always check the care label first.
Loading and Detergent Tips
- Leave space at the top of the drum so clothes can tumble — never pack it tight.
- Measure detergent into the marked drawer compartment; too much creates excess foam.
- Add fabric softener to its own compartment, not onto the clothes.
- Close the door or lid until it clicks before pressing Start.

Getting the Best Wash
Leave the door ajar and wipe the seal dry between washes to prevent mould. Clean the detergent drawer and pump filter monthly.
