Onida Washing Machine Error Codes: List and Fixes

An error code on an Onida washing machine is its way of telling you what has gone wrong before it can finish a cycle. Most codes point to everyday problems — a drainage blockage, an unbalanced load or a door that has not latched — that you can sort out yourself. This guide lists common Onida washing machine error codes, what each means, and the fix to try first.

Onida Washing Machine Error Code List

Exact codes vary between Onida’s semi-automatic, top-load and front-load ranges, so where your code is not listed, match it to the general category of fault below. Many displays show an “E” followed by a number, or letters such as “Ub” for unbalanced.

Code Meaning Fix to Try
E1 Water not filling / inlet problem Open the tap fully, straighten the inlet hose and clean the inlet mesh filter.
E2 Door or lid not closed Re-close the door firmly until it clicks; check nothing is trapped in the seal.
E3 Drainage fault — not draining Clean the drain filter and check the drain hose for kinks or blockages.
E4 Overflow / water level too high Reduce detergent; power off and check the water valve is not stuck open.
E5 Heating or temperature sensor issue Power-cycle the machine; if it returns, call a technician.
E6 / Ub Unbalanced load during spin Open the door, spread the laundry evenly and restart the spin.
E7 Motor or drive fault Reduce the load and restart; persistent E7 needs a service visit.
E8 Water leak detected Switch off, check under the machine and inspect hose connections.

The Most Common Onida Codes Explained

E1 — No Water Filling

E1 means the machine could not draw enough water at the start of the cycle. Usually the tap is only half open, the inlet hose is kinked behind the machine, or the small mesh filter at the hose connection has clogged. Turn off the tap, unscrew the hose, rinse the filter and refit it.

E3 — Will Not Drain

E3 means water cannot leave the drum, almost always due to a blocked pump filter or a kinked drain hose. Cleaning the filter regularly also prevents odours — our guide on how to clean the washing machine drum and filter walks you through it.

E6 / Ub — Unbalanced Load

This appears when the drum cannot balance the laundry for spinning. Washing one heavy item alone is a common cause. Spread the load evenly and restart.

When to Reset and When to Call a Technician

Many codes clear after a simple reset once you have addressed the cause. If a code keeps coming back, follow our guide on how to reset an Onida washing machine. Codes pointing to the motor, heater or control board (E5, E7) usually need a qualified technician, especially under warranty.

If faults keep recurring on an older machine, replacing it may be more economical.
