Midea Washing Machine Error Codes: List and Fixes

Midea washing machines display an error code on the screen when a problem stops a cycle from finishing. Most codes point to simple issues you can fix at home — a drainage blockage, a door that has not latched, or an unbalanced load. This guide lists common Midea washing machine error codes, explains what each means, and gives the at-home fix to try first.

Midea Washing Machine Error Code List

Codes differ a little between Midea’s front-load and top-load ranges, but the codes below cover those most commonly seen. Many Midea models use an “E” followed by a number such as E10, E20 or E30.

Code Meaning Fix to Try
E10 / E1 Water not filling / inlet problem Open the tap fully, straighten the inlet hose and clean the inlet mesh filter.
E20 / E2 Drainage fault — not draining Clean the pump filter and check the drain hose for kinks or blockages.
E30 / E3 Door or lid not closed / lock fault Re-close the door firmly until it clicks; check the seal and latch are clear.
E4 Unbalanced load during spin Open the door, spread the laundry evenly and restart the spin.
E5 Water level / overflow fault Reduce detergent; power off and check for a stuck water valve.
E6 Heating or temperature sensor fault Power-cycle the machine; if it returns, call a technician.
E7 Motor or drive fault Reduce the load and restart; persistent E7 needs a service visit.
E8 Water leak or sensor fault Switch off, check under the machine and inspect hose connections.

The Most Common Midea Codes Explained

E10 / E1 — No Water Filling

This means the machine could not draw enough water at the start of the cycle. Usually the tap is only half open, the inlet hose is kinked, or the mesh filter at the hose connection has clogged. Turn off the tap, unscrew the hose, rinse the filter and refit it.

E20 / E2 — Will Not Drain

An E20 means water cannot leave the drum, nearly always because of a blocked pump filter or a kinked drain hose. Cleaning the filter regularly also keeps odours away — see our guide on how to clean the washing machine drum and filter.

E4 — Unbalanced Load

E4 appears when the drum cannot balance the laundry for spinning, often because a single heavy item is being washed alone. Spread the load evenly and restart. We cover this in more detail in our guide on the E4 error on a Midea washing machine.

When to Reset and When to Call a Technician

Many codes clear after a power reset once you have fixed the cause. Switch off, unplug for a couple of minutes, then restart. Codes pointing to the motor, heater or control board (E6, E7) usually need a qualified technician, especially while the machine is under warranty.

If faults keep recurring on an older machine, a replacement may be more economical.
