Whirlpool makes both front-load and top-load washing machines for the Indian market. Their 6th Sense technology automatically adjusts water, energy, and time based on load size and soil level. This guide covers daily use, cycle selection, and maintenance for Whirlpool washers.
First-Time Setup Checklist
- For front-load models: remove all transit bolts from the rear panel before use
- Connect the water inlet hose to a cold water tap — check the connection is hand-tight with no leaks
- Route the drain hose into the standpipe or sink — the hose end must be at least 60 cm above floor level
- Level the machine — adjust feet until all four corners are stable and the machine does not wobble
- Run the Clean Washer (or Drum Clean) cycle before your first laundry load
How to Run Whirlpool Clean Washer Cycle
Turn the cycle selector to Clean Washer or press the cycle button until it is selected. Add a drum cleaning tablet or 100 ml of bleach into the drum (front-loaders) or into the drum and agitator area (top-loaders). Press Start. Run this monthly for best results.

What Is Whirlpool 6th Sense Technology?
6th Sense uses sensors to detect load weight, soil level, and fabric type. It then automatically adjusts water level, wash time, and rinse cycles — meaning you use only as much water and energy as needed. You do not need to manually set these parameters when using 6th Sense programmes.
For best results with 6th Sense, do not pre-set the water level manually — let the machine sense and set it automatically.
Spin Speed and Temperature Tips
- Low spin (400–600 RPM) — Woollens, delicates, children’s clothing
- Medium spin (800–1000 RPM) — Synthetics, daily wear
- High spin (1200–1400 RPM) — Towels, denim, bedsheets
Maintenance Tips
- Clean the lint filter in top-loaders after every 3–4 washes
- Clean the drain pump filter in front-loaders every 2 months
- Wipe the door seal after every front-load wash cycle
- Leave the door/lid ajar after use to allow the drum to dry
