Why Connect Your Phone to a Dangbei Projector?
A Dangbei projector has its own apps and Android TV interface, but sometimes the easiest path to the content you want is directly from your phone — your streaming app libraries, photos, presentations, or games. Dangbei projectors support multiple connection methods for both Android and iPhone, making it one of the more flexible projector options available in India. This guide covers every method in order from most convenient to most reliable.
What You Need
- Your Dangbei projector powered on and connected to WiFi
- An Android or iPhone on the same WiFi network (for wireless methods)
- A USB-C to HDMI adapter or Lightning to HDMI adapter (for wired connections, optional)
- A Chromecast device (optional alternative, plugs into HDMI port)
Method 1: Wireless Screen Mirroring — Android
Step 1: Open Screen Mirror on the Projector
On your Dangbei projector, navigate to the home screen and open the Screen Mirror or Miracast app. Some Dangbei models label this Wireless Display. The projector will show a waiting screen with its device name displayed — leave this open.
Step 2: Cast from Android
On your Android phone, pull down the notification shade to open Quick Settings. Look for Cast, Screen Mirror, Smart View, or Wireless Display. Tap it — your phone will scan for Miracast-compatible devices nearby. Select your Dangbei projector from the list. Your phone screen will appear on the projection within a few seconds.
Step 3: Adjust for Best Results
If you see lag during screen mirroring, make sure both devices are on 5 GHz WiFi. Close background apps on your phone to free up processing power. For video streaming apps that block screen mirroring (some DRM-protected apps), use the casting/Chromecast method instead.
Method 2: Screen Mirroring — iPhone
iPhones use Apple’s AirPlay protocol rather than Miracast. Dangbei projectors include an AirScreen app (or similar AirPlay receiver) in the Dangbei app store to bridge this gap.
- On the Dangbei projector, open the AirScreen or AirPlay Receiver app from the app store. If it is not pre-installed, search for “AirScreen” in the Google Play Store on the projector.
- On your iPhone, open Control Centre (swipe down from top-right corner on newer iPhones).
- Tap Screen Mirroring. Your Dangbei projector should appear in the list (it will show the AirScreen device name).
- Tap the projector name. Enter the PIN shown on the projector if prompted.
- Your iPhone screen will now mirror to the Dangbei projector.
Method 3: Wired HDMI Connection
For the most stable, lag-free connection — especially for presentations, gaming, or high-resolution video — a wired HDMI connection is unbeatable.
- Android phones (USB-C): Use a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Connect the USB-C end to your phone and the HDMI cable to the projector. Switch the projector’s input source to HDMI using the remote.
- iPhones/iPads: Use an Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter. Connect it to your iPhone, attach an HDMI cable, and plug into the projector. Switch input to HDMI.
Your screen will mirror instantly with no apps or configuration needed. Audio will also be routed through the projector’s speakers automatically.
Method 4: Use Chromecast for Streaming Apps
If you have a Chromecast with Google TV or a Chromecast (3rd gen or later), plug it into the projector’s HDMI port. This turns your Dangbei into a certified streaming device — you can cast Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify from your phone directly to the Chromecast via the Cast button within each app. This method also bypasses DRM restrictions that affect screen mirroring.
Common Problems and Fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Android phone not finding projector in Cast list | Both must be on the same WiFi network; restart Screen Mirror app on projector |
| iPhone not seeing projector for AirPlay | Ensure AirScreen app is running on projector; same WiFi network required |
| Screen mirroring shows lag or stuttering | Switch both devices to 5 GHz WiFi; use wired HDMI for critical use cases |
| Netflix/Prime Video won’t cast via screen mirror | Use the in-app Cast button instead of screen mirroring; or use a Chromecast device |
| No audio when mirroring from iPhone | In AirScreen settings on projector, ensure audio output is set to projector speakers; check iPhone volume |
Tips for a Better Experience
- Set your phone to Do Not Disturb before mirroring so calls and notifications don’t interrupt the projection.
- For presentations, rotate your phone to landscape mode before connecting for a more natural fit on the wide projection.
- If you want to browse content from your phone but let the projector handle playback independently, install apps directly on the projector — our guide on installing apps on a Dangbei projector covers how.
